Chris Elmore MP is encouraging residents across Bridgend & Porthcawl to nominate their favourite local businesses as part of his Small Business Awards 2026, with nominations open until Saturday 21st November.
The awards aim to recognise and celebrate the hard work, dedication and contribution of small businesses throughout the Bridgend & Porthcawl parliamentary constituency.
Whether it’s a family-run shop, an independent café, a local tradesperson or a business operating from home or an industrial estate, Chris wants to hear about the businesses that make a positive difference to local people.
Since launching the awards earlier this month, nominations have already started coming in, with local people taking the opportunity to recognise businesses they value.
Every nominated business will be contacted and sent a special “We’ve Been Nominated!” poster to proudly display, letting customers know they’ve been recognised by their community.
Chris said:
“It’s been fantastic to see nominations coming in for this year’s Small Business Awards, and I’m really looking forward to hearing about even more brilliant local businesses!
“Small businesses are such an important part of our communities. They provide local jobs, support our economy and often go above and beyond for their customers.
“These awards are an opportunity to say thank you and recognise the people behind them. If there’s a local business you think deserves celebrating, please take a few minutes to nominate them and tell me what makes them special!”
To qualify, nominated businesses must be based within the Bridgend & Porthcawl parliamentary constituency. Parliamentary constituency boundaries do not necessarily follow local authority boundaries, and residents can check which areas are included at: www.chriselmore.wales/constituency.
Following the nomination deadline, Chris and his team will review the nominations, with successful businesses recognised in the lead-up to Small Business Saturday on 5th December 2026.
Chris has been a long-standing supporter of Small Business Saturday, the national campaign celebrating the contribution of small businesses to communities and the wider economy.
