Chris Elmore MP has thanked residents across Bridgend & Porthcawl who took part in his Summer Survey 2026, with healthcare, local regeneration and tackling crime and antisocial behaviour emerging among constituents’ key priorities.
The survey ran throughout the summer and gave residents the opportunity to share their views on their local area, the issues that matter most to them and the services they would most like to see improved.
Overall, 61% of respondents said they were very or fairly satisfied with their local area as a place to live.
When asked about their priorities, 77% selected NHS and healthcare, 71% selected local regeneration and 57% selected crime and antisocial behaviour.
Access to services also featured strongly. 82% of respondents wanted to see improvements to GP and healthcare services, while 80% highlighted roads and pavements. Sports and leisure facilities were selected by 41% and public transport by 36%.
Written responses reinforced many of those findings, with recurring comments about access to healthcare, regeneration of town centres, the condition of roads and pavements and concerns about crime and antisocial behaviour.

“I want to thank everyone across Bridgend & Porthcawl who took the time to complete my Summer Survey. The results give me a valuable picture of what matters to people across our constituency and where residents want to see improvements.
“Healthcare clearly came through as a major priority. While health is devolved to the Welsh Government, I regularly raise constituents’ experiences and concerns with Welsh Government Ministers and Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
“Regeneration also featured strongly, and I’ll continue working with local businesses, community organisations and other stakeholders to support our town centres and make sure residents’ views are heard.
“I’ll be using these results, along with the individual comments people submitted, to help shape my work locally and in Westminster. Thank you again to everyone who took part.”
Chris will continue raising the issues identified through the survey with Bridgend County Borough Council, our local health board, Welsh Government, UK Government and other organisations.
