Chris Elmore MP popped into Bridgend Foodbank at Hope Baptist Church in Bridgend to meet the charity’s new manager, Lucy, and thank the team and volunteers for the vital support they provide to local families.

During his visit on Friday 10th July, Chris met with Lucy to hear more about the Foodbank’s ongoing work and discuss the continued partnership between Bridgend Foodbank and his annual Back to School Stationery Collection.

The stationery appeal, now in its second year, is being delivered in partnership with Bridgend Foodbank, Awen Libraries across the Bridgend & Porthcawl constituency, Bridgend Carers Centre, Porthcawl Museum, First Class Learning Bridgend, Pencoed Swimming Pool and Ynysawdre Pool and Fitness Centre. Donations of new stationery items will help ensure children and young people across Bridgend & Porthcawl have the equipment they need for the new school year.

Chris Elmore MP said:

“I’ve been incredibly proud to work with and support Bridgend Foodbank since I was first elected as MP for Bridgend & Porthcawl. The dedication of the staff and volunteers makes a real difference to so many people across our communities, and I want to thank them for everything they do.

“It was a pleasure to meet Lucy and wish her every success as she takes on the role of manager. I know she’ll continue the fantastic work of the Foodbank and build on the incredible legacy left by Tricia, who has given so much to the organisation over many years. I wish Tricia a long, happy and well-deserved retirement.

“I’m delighted that we’re once again working together on my Back to School Stationery Collection. By donating new stationery items, local people can help ensure children and young people start the new school year with the essentials they need to learn and thrive.”

Chris also paid tribute to former manager Tricia, thanking her for her years of dedication to Bridgend Foodbank and the positive impact she has had on countless families across the county borough.

The Back to School Stationery Collection is now open. Donations can be made at Awen Libraries across the Bridgend & Porthcawl constituency, as well as a number of other collection points.
