Chris Elmore MP visited Clare House School in Porthcawl on Friday 5th June, where he met with Executive Headteacher Sally Davis, Chair of the Board of Trustees Rachael Harman, and other members of the team preparing the school for its opening in September 2026.
During the visit, Chris heard more about the work underway to develop the site and secure funding ahead of the school’s opening.
Clare House School is being developed by the Clare House Educational Trust, a not-for-profit organisation led by a Board of Trustees. The Trust has been working to secure the investment needed to reopen the site and establish a new independent school serving the local area.
The school plans to provide education for pupils aged 4 to 16, with a focus on smaller class sizes and a supportive learning environment tailored to individual needs.
Discussions during the visit focused on the future of the site, the progress made in recent months, and the school’s intended role within the wider Porthcawl community.
Chris Elmore MP welcomed the opportunity to meet with the team and learn more about the project. He also said he looks forward to visiting the school again in the future.
Community Big Picnic Event
Ahead of opening in September, Clare House School will be hosting a Community Big Picnic on Saturday 13th June from 11am to 2pm. The event will give local families the opportunity to visit the site, meet the new team, and hear more about plans for the school.
The free community event will include:

- Play and Learn Club activities
- Exotic animal encounters
