On Friday 15 May, Chris Elmore MP, Member of Parliament for Bridgend & Porthcawl, met with Roch Cheroux, the new Chief Executive Officer of Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, who took up the role in January 2026. The meeting formed part of Chris Elmore’s ongoing engagement with Welsh Water since being elected in July 2024 and provided an opportunity to raise local concerns directly with Welsh Water’s new leadership.
During the meeting, Chris Elmore raised a number of significant local concerns, including issues affecting the Ogmore River catchment and sewerage works, capacity pressures linked to the Porthcawl regeneration, and ongoing spillages in the Marlas River catchment in the Kenfig area. While the Marlas catchment sits just outside the Bridgend & Porthcawl constituency, the impact of these problems continues to be felt by local residents.
He made clear that clean rivers, reliable infrastructure and strong environmental protections remain key priorities for communities across Bridgend & Porthcawl. While committed to working constructively with Welsh Water, he also stressed that he will continue to hold the company to account where improvements are needed and ensure local concerns are taken seriously.
Chris Elmore will continue pressing Welsh Water to improve sewage capacity, tackle pollution and ensure infrastructure is in place to support future development. He also reaffirmed that he will continue challenging Welsh Water where necessary, demanding greater transparency and keeping pressure on until residents see real and lasting progress.
