Chris Elmore, MP for Bridgend & Porthcawl, joined officials from Penybont FC, the Football Association of Wales (FAW), Bridgend County Borough Council, Bridgend College and a wide range of local stakeholders on Friday 28th November for an event highlighting the club’s exciting long-term vision — and the strong progress already being made both on and off the pitch.

Hosted by sports broadcaster and journalist Molly Stevens, the event formed part of an FAW initiative asking each Cymru Premier Club to develop a strategy through to 2030. Penybont FC is already a full year ahead, setting out a comprehensive plan focused on development, growth, and deepening its role at the heart of the community.

During the event, Chris Elmore MP delivered a speech emphasising his long-standing support for Penybont FC and praising the club’s commitment to strengthening its roots in the local community. He highlighted the significant strides the club has made in recent years.

Chris Elmore MP said:
“Penybont FC is a brilliant example of how a football club can be rooted in its community while aiming high for the future. The work Neil, Alan and the team have put in is hugely impressive and I was proud to speak at the event to show my full support as they press ahead with their plans. I’ll continue to back them however I can as the club grows into 2026 and beyond.”

As part of its next phase of development, Penybont FC is also calling for new volunteers. Whether supporters are passionate about football, media, community engagement, or simply want to help keep a thriving local club running smoothly, there are opportunities to get involved.
