Chris Elmore MP for Bridgend & Porthcawl has praised the innovation and expertise of local engineering firm Engineering Services (Bridgend) Ltd following a recent visit to the company’s base off Coity Road in Bridgend.

The company is the UK’s largest heavy engineering firm serving the recycling sector worldwide. Operating on a global scale from Bridgend, it’s a powerful example of some of the world-class engineering taking place in South Wales.

Engineering Services (Bridgend) Ltd employs 57 staff, including 40 skilled fitters, welders, machinists and electricians, as well as engineers, draughtsmen, accountants, office staff and three apprentices. Its 40,000-square-foot workshop, originally built in 1882, houses cranes capable of lifting up to 120 tons, enabling the company to handle major engineering projects for clients across the globe.

Beyond its international reach, the company makes a major contribution to the local economy by providing skilled, long-term employment. Its commitment to training and developing apprentices helps nurture the next generation of engineers, ensuring local talent continues to thrive in a high-skill industry. The business also plays a key role in putting Bridgend on the map globally, proving that world-class engineering and innovation are alive and well in South Wales.
