A local success story is unfolding on Market Street in Bridgend, where KTF Gifts has recently expanded into a second unit. The shop, run by entrepreneur Daniel Cassar, was visited last week by Bridgend & Porthcawl MP Chris Elmore, who praised the business for its innovative approach and contribution to the local economy.
The expansion brings another previously vacant town centre unit back into use, demonstrating the value of independent businesses in helping to revitalise high streets.
What sets KTF Gifts apart is its unique business model. Instead of operating as a conventional retail store, Daniel rents out shelf space to independent crafters, artists, and makers from across Wales and beyond. This gives local creatives an affordable platform to sell their work — and gives shoppers access to original, handmade products for birthdays, weddings, or just something different.
Speaking during his visit, Chris Elmore MP said:
“It’s always fantastic to see local businesses grow, and KTF Gifts is a great example of the creativity and innovation we have here in Bridgend. Daniel’s model supports a wide range of local makers, and it’s great to see another unit filled in the town centre. Independent businesses like this are the backbone of our economy.”
Chris Elmore’s visit is part of his ongoing work to connect with residents and businesses across the constituency. One of his key pledges during the last General Election was to remain accessible and visible in the community — a commitment he continues to uphold through regular meetings and visits.
In addition to these visits, Chris recently launched the Bridgend Regeneration Group, bringing together business owners, council representatives, and key stakeholders to collaborate on improving the town centre, attracting more visitors, and supporting local growth.
