The UK Government has launched a national consultation on possible changes to the rules governing fireworks and pyrotechnics.
The proposals include reducing the maximum noise level of fireworks available to the public, restricting products considered to present an unacceptable risk and reviewing the rules covering lower-risk pyrotechnic products.
Fireworks are enjoyed by many as part of celebrations and cultural events. However, concerns are regularly raised about noise, public safety, antisocial behaviour and the distress they can cause to people and animals.
