Chris Elmore MP is once again calling on the incredible generosity of local people to support children and young people across Bridgend & Porthcawl by donating essential school stationery ahead of the new academic year.
Following the fantastic response to previous community collections, Chris has today launched his Back-to-School Stationery Collection 2026 in partnership with Bridgend Foodbank and Awen Libraries.
The appeal aims to help ensure that children and young people across the constituency have the stationery they need to start the new school year ready to learn, grow and thrive.
Last year, local people donated hundreds of stationery items, helping families across the community prepare for the return to school. From pens and pencils to notebooks, school bags and calculators, every donation made a difference.
Chris is now hoping the community will come together once again to make this year’s appeal the biggest yet.
Residents are being encouraged to donate new stationery items, including pens, pencils, highlighters, notebooks, rulers, rubbers, school bags, calculators and geometry sets.
Donations can be made at the following collection points:
• Aberkenfig Library
• Bridgend Library (Halo Centre)
• Pencoed Library
• Porthcawl Library
• Sarn Library
• Ynysawdre Pool & Fitness Centre
• Pencoed Swimming Pool
• Porthcawl Museum (Open Wed, Fri & Sat between 11am & 3pm)
The final date for donations is Monday 10th August 2026.
The appeal has been launched early to give the dedicated team at Bridgend Foodbank time to sort, organise and distribute donations to families across Bridgend & Porthcawl before schools return for the new term in September.
Chris Elmore MP said:“One of the things that makes Bridgend & Porthcawl so special is the willingness of local people to help one another.
“Every year I am amazed by the kindness and generosity shown by our community. I am delighted to launch my Back-to-School Stationery Collection once again for 2026.
“Something as simple as a pen, notebook or school bag can make a real difference to a child preparing for a new school year. By donating just a few items, local residents can help ensure children and young people across our community have the essentials they need when they return to the classroom.
“I would like to thank Bridgend Foodbank and Awen Libraries for supporting the appeal once again. Setting the donation deadline at 10th August will give the Foodbank team the time they need to organise and distribute supplies to families before the start of the new school term.
“I know how generous people across Bridgend & Porthcawl are and I hope as many people as possible will get involved.”
Whether it’s one pack of pens or a bag full of supplies, every donation will help.
Together, we can help local children and young people start the new school year with confidence.
