The UK Government is currently considering new steps to help protect children and young people from harm online. As part of this work, a national consultation planned for later this year will explore a range of options — including the possibility of introducing restrictions on social media use for those under the age of 16.
As these discussions move forward, it is important that the views of local communities are heard. I am particularly keen to hear from parents, carers and young people across Bridgend & Porthcawl about what these potential changes might mean in practice and whether you believe they would make a difference.
Your feedback will help ensure that local perspectives are included in the national conversation about how best to keep children safe online while supporting young people to use digital spaces responsibly.
