UK Parliament Week, held at the end of every year, helps young people understand how Parliament works and how they can play an active role in our democracy. As part of this year’s events, Chris Elmore MP visited a number of local schools across Bridgend & Porthcawl to engage pupils in discussions about democracy, representation and life at Westminster.
Chris visited Tremains Primary School in Brackla, where pupils asked enthusiastic questions about his role as a Member of Parliament and what it means to represent Bridgend & Porthcawl. He also visited Cefn Cribwr Primary School, where he held a mini ballot to help explain how elections work in practice, bringing democracy to life for young learners.
At Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Bro Ogwr in Brackla, pupils impressed with their thoughtful and insightful questions about Parliament and decision-making. Many schools across Bridgend & Porthcawl took part in UK Parliament Week, demonstrating inspiring curiosity about democracy and how decisions made in Parliament affect everyday life.
Chris Elmore MP said:
“It was fantastic to meet so many engaged and curious young people as part of UK Parliament Week. Their questions showed a real interest in how our democracy works and how they can have a voice in the future. I truly believe the next generation’s future is in safe hands.”
UK Parliament Week continues to be an important opportunity to inspire young people to learn about democracy and civic engagement.
