Chris Elmore MP convened the latest meeting of the Bridgend Regeneration Working Group on Friday 10th October — an initiative Chris launched earlier this year to bring together local voices and support the transformation of Bridgend town centre.
During the General Election, Chris made a clear pledge to do everything possible to back the regeneration of Bridgend town centre. The Working Group is a key part of delivering on that commitment, providing a space for collaboration and practical discussion among those working to revitalise the town.
The group brings together a broad and diverse mix of local charitable organisations, businesses, third-sector groups, market traders and representatives from Bridgend County Borough Council. While each group offers its own perspective, all are united by a shared goal: to help Bridgend flourish as a thriving, welcoming town centre that meets the needs of residents, businesses and visitors alike.
At this week’s meeting, members took part in in-depth discussions following presentations from Cardiff Capital Region (CCR) and Valleys to Coast on ongoing regeneration plans and CCR’s role as both facilitator and forum for regeneration.
The group also discussed local priorities, including public toilets and the Pride in Place funding and welcomed officials from Welsh Government as regeneration plans start to gain momentum.
Speaking after the meeting, Chris said:
“There’s a real sense of momentum building in Bridgend. New businesses are opening, the night-time economy is growing and there are exciting plans in development to continue revitalising our town centre. By working together, we can make Bridgend a place we’re all proud of — vibrant, welcoming and full of opportunity.”
With regeneration work progressing across the town, Chris Elmore MP will continue to update local residents and businesses on developments as they unfold.
