Chris Elmore, Member of Parliament for Bridgend & Porthcawl, recently met with Dan and Kath Newman, who are from Bridgend, to learn more about their remarkable new Social Enterprise, BALDILOCKS.
Founded by Dan, BALDILOCKS was created with a simple but powerful mission: to transform the experience of hair loss into one of empowerment, resilience, and self-discovery.
Dan’s own journey began in childhood with the early onset of alopecia. What could have been a lifelong struggle became, through courage and support, a story of growth and acceptance. With the unwavering encouragement of his wife and co-founder, Kath, Dan embraced his true self and turned his experience into a vision that would inspire others. That vision became BALDILOCKS: a wellness community where no one has to feel isolated, ashamed, or defined by their challenges.
Their mission:
At BALDILOCKS, the focus is on fostering well-being, inclusivity, and connection. Whether someone is navigating alopecia, cancer recovery, or mental health barriers, the BALDILOCKS community walks alongside them every step of the way. Built on empathy, humour, and respect, it provides a safe space where people can share their stories, build confidence, and discover purpose.
Support they offer:
Support & Resources
From educational guides and expert advice to real-life stories and compassionate guidance, BALDILOCKS provides the tools and knowledge people need to feel empowered on their journey.
Community Connection
No one should walk this path alone. Their support groups, forums, and events connect people with others who understand, helping them build friendships and find strength in shared experiences.
Wellness Programs
True healing goes beyond appearance. BALDILOCKS offers mindfulness and meditation sessions, nutritional guidance, fitness classes, and holistic wellness experiences to help people feel radiant inside and out.
Personal Growth
Their workshops and coaching are designed to inspire resilience, boost confidence, and encourage self-acceptance—helping individuals transform challenges into opportunities for growth.
Chris Elmore MP said “Dan and Kath’s work through BALDILOCKS is inspirational. By turning their own lived experience into a force for good, they are offering hope, support, and strength to so many people across Bridgend and beyond. This is exactly the kind of positive, people-focused Social Enterprise that shows the very best of our community spirit.”
