Chris Elmore MP recently visited Pencoed Technology Park with representatives from the Development Bank of Wales (Banc) to see how their support is helping businesses grow across the Bridgend & Porthcawl constituency.

The Development Bank of Wales plays a vital role in supporting Welsh enterprises by providing access to finance, enabling expansion, and ensuring companies can thrive in an increasingly competitive economy. To date, the Banc has supported almost 50,000 jobs across Wales, backing firms with strong growth potential, robust business models, and high social, ethical, and environmental standards.

During the visit, Chris met with the team from Fabco, who are currently constructing a new business park for small and medium-sized enterprises at Pencoed Technology Park. Fabco has already successfully delivered a similar development on the site, where all units are now fully leased by local businesses. The new units will provide flexible space for a wide range of industries, with office facilities on mezzanine floors.

Chris also visited United Worldwide Logistics (UWL), a global logistics company based at the park. UWL offers a comprehensive range of transport services by air, sea, road, and rail, alongside UK-wide warehousing, pick-and-pack, and specialist storage facilities. The company, which manages storage for high-profile clients including Swansea-based AU Vodka, has benefited from Development Bank of Wales funding to expand its operations locally.

Speaking after the visits, Chris Elmore MP said:

“It’s fantastic to see first-hand the difference that the Development Bank of Wales is making for businesses locally. Fabco’s new business units will create much-needed space for local businesses to grow, while United Worldwide Logistics is a brilliant example of a company with global reach that is firmly rooted in our community. Both businesses highlight the importance of supporting Welsh enterprises, creating jobs, and strengthening our local economy.”
